Sweet Poetry Cakery

Hey y'all, I’m Annise!

I’m the baker, decorator, and owner behind Sweet Poetry Cakery and The Sweet Little Shop in Port Republic, Maryland.

How It Started:

Fifteen years ago, I couldn't afford cupcakes from my favorite cupcake bakery in DC for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. My aunt bought me a baking magazine at a grocery store checkout line and dared me to make them myself. After baking every single recipe for my co-workers on Fridays, I started developing my own signature flavors, then someone finally asked, "How much do you charge?" That single question sparked Sweet Poetry Cakery!

Growing Our Roots:

After 15 years of creating custom treats from home, God opened the doors for us to launch our micro-bakery in Calvert County in June 2025. By September 2025, we expanded to open The Sweet Little Shop, a curated boutique showcasing local small business vendors.

Our Mission:

To serve our community with Kingdom-centered hospitality. We aim to bring comfort, nostalgia, and beauty to every gathering through fresh, gorgeous baked goods, unique local brands, and warm fellowship.

Whether you're picking up a custom cake or discovering a local treasure, we hope your visit leaves your heart full!

See you at The Shop!

                                                         Peace and Blessings,

                                                       Annise Jefferson
